As one of the first organizations in the country to launch programs designed to address and reduce social isolation and loneliness, Samaritan convened the Social Isolation, Loneliness & Connection Collaborative (SILCC), a coalition of major health systems and 40+ nonprofits, committed to addressing the physical and mental toll of social isolation, after recognizing that other organizations in South Jersey also were starting to tackle the problem of loneliness. These SILCC members include those whose mission focuses on everything from veterans’ groups to animal shelters.
The group not only educates the public about the far-reaching effects of loneliness but also fosters partnerships to create tailored programs for diverse populations.
These are organizations who are not only addressing the symptoms of loneliness but who are also working to rebuild the fabric of connection within communities.
