  • To help ensure that Samaritan’s Board and Committee Members reflect the diversity of the communities we serve, the Governance Committee considers all aspects of diversity, including race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, or socio-economic status when recommending appointments and nominations.
  • To help ensure that Samaritan provides equitable access to care and services that meet the needs of the diverse patients and families, the Board’s Inclusion & Diversity Committee includes representation of the communities we serve to inform and support development of programs and services, education, engagement and community partnerships.
Samaritan's Community Impact
Founded in 1980 by visionary volunteers, Samaritan is the regional leader for hospice and palliative care. We were the first, and still the largest, hospice organization serving South Jersey.

Samaritan reinvests in our community by providing close to $1 million annually in non-reimbursed care thanks to the generosity of our donors. Samaritan offers many charitable giving opportunities to support our mission of service.

Samaritan opened South Jersey’s first free-standing inpatient hospice center in Voorhees in December 2016 – The Samaritan Center at Voorhees – to join our inpatient hospice center in Mount Holly.

Samaritan is one of only six N.J. hospices to achieve the highest 4-star level of care in the national We Honor Veterans program committed to caring for veterans and their distinctive needs.

Samaritan’s Timely Conversations initiative encourages people to consider what matters most, now and at the end of life, by thinking about their wishes, talking with loved ones, and documenting their advance directives in tools such as Five Wishes.

Samaritan volunteer opportunities provide many ways to help make a real difference, including administrative assistance, community outreach, special events, companionship for patients, respite for family caregivers, and more.

Samaritan is committed to educating the community and offers a wide range of engaging topics for community, professional and student groups and employee wellness programs.
