A Sweet Legacy – Camden Twins Turn 100

Rita and Grace DenboOne hundred years of life and stories.

Our patients come from all walks of life, each with their own amazing stories. Samaritan has had the pleasure of caring for Grace and Rita Denbo as they enter their 100th year of bold living. Through conversations with their Samaritan Care team, we discovered more about the outstanding lives they’ve led.

Grace and Rita come from a sweet family – literally. Their family ran the Denbo & Sons Confectionary in Collingswood. Though they did not follow into the family business, both twins’ broke barriers. In a time when not many women went to college, both Rita and Grace did. Rita went on to become a highly respected paralegal for a law firm in NJ. She was so sought after that when the law office moved to New York, the firm recruited her to transfer with them. So, Rita embarked on a new journey, living in NYC near the office from Sunday evening through Friday afternoon, then coming back home to South Jersey to spend every weekend with Grace and the family.

The Denbo family was committed to supporting each other through all of life’s moments, but the twins’ bond was especially strong. After a turbulent divorce, Rita moved in with Grace, and they lived together ever since

As they turned 100 years old, The Lions Gate Community, where Rita and Grace now live, celebrated this amazing milestone with a lovely birthday celebration that brought one twin to tears. Samaritan works with assisted living facilities to bring care  including primary care, palliative medicine, and hospice care  directly to those who need support. This allows our patients to receive the care they need from the comfort of their home.

Joining Rita and Grace in celebrating the big 100 were members of the Samaritan care team. They were overjoyed to hear from Grace and Rita about the road to 100.
