Training Sessions

Samaritan holds 60-minute volunteer orientations on the 1st Wednesday of every month to provide an overview of the hospice philosophy and detailed information about volunteer opportunities at Samaritan. You may choose to attend at 11:00 a.m. or 6:00 p.m. at our Marlton office. Attendance at this program qualifies you to begin your volunteer work in many areas. Registration is required. Contact Sally Cezo at 856-552-3235 to reserve your spot.

NOTE: You must be at least 18 years of age to visit patients and families. All those interested in volunteering for Samaritan must wait at least one year after experiencing a significant loss of a family member or close friend before attending our training sessions.

Samaritan's service area includes Burlington, Camden, Gloucester, Mercer, and Atlantic counties.

  • Direct Patient Support: Visit patients, provide caregiver relief, prepare light meals, help with light housework or yardwork, play cards or games, read
  • Office Support: Copying/filing, perform data entry, help with mailings, help with phone support, assemble packets/manuals
  • Voorhees Center Greeter: Welcoming guests and visitors, answering phones. Available to teens age 17+
  • Tuck-In: Make phone calls to our patients and their families to assess any needs they anticipate having over the weekend 
  • Bereavement:  Make telephone calls to check-in with those who have recently experienced a loss
  • Thrift Store: No retail experience necessary. Tag/sort merchandise, assist customers. Teens must be at least 17 years old.
  • Pet Therapy: Dog must already be certified
  • Specialized Services: Foreign language, hairstylist, manicurist, photographer, others as needed
  • Independent Support: Crafts, crocheting/knitting, quilting, sewing, other
  • SamariTeens: Ongoing volunteer group for 14-18 year old students

Samaritan volunteer assignments available in Burlington, Camden, Gloucester,
Mercer, and Atlantic counties.
