Why Schedule a Hospice Presentation

Discussing death and making end-of-life plans isn't easy for most people. It's uncomfortable to think about our own death or the death of a loved one. However, it's important to discuss your healthcare wishes and options. A presentation by a Samaritan expert can help you start these difficult conversations and explore available care options. Once these more difficult topics are addressed, you and your loved one will feel freer to focus on quality of life and making the most of the remaining time.

Samaritan offers a variety of presentations to help get these conversations started. We provides informative and dynamic speakers for your work, church, rotary, AARP, or senior group at no charge.

ABOUT END-OF-LIFE CARE

TIMELY CONVERSATIONS |
(45 - 60 minutes)

We talk about the weather, sports, and breaking news. But too many of us shy away from talking about what matters most. If a surgery, accident, or serious illness prevented you from speaking for yourself, what would your wishes be? How would you define quality of life? This engaging conversation gets you thinking about your wishes, guides you to find the right time to talk about your wishes with those who are important to you, and helps you act by writing it all down. This program takes you beyond the advance care planning and living will legal documents.

| HOSPICE BASICS |
(30 minutes)

This enlightening hospice presentation explores the basic foundation of hospice care, the Medicare Hospice benefit, the specific services and supplies that are available, and how Samaritan can address specialized situations.

| FIVE WISHES |
(40 - 60 minutes)

This DVD-and-discussion program addresses your personal, emotional, spiritual and medical wishes so that family and friends won’t have to guess what you want and make hard choices without knowing your wishes. The Five Wishes living will is valid in most states, including New Jersey. Participants bring the easy-to-complete booklet home at the end of the presentation to complete at their leisure.  MORE >>

| HEALTH BENEFITS OF VOLUNTEERING |
(30 minutes)

Did you know that when you volunteer to help others, you increase your own odds of living a healthier, longer, more satisfying life? But what are the other benefits of being a volunteer? This presentation will discuss the emotional, physical, and spiritual benefits of volunteering and the many ways on how to get involved.

| CARING FOR VETERANS AT THE END OF LIFE |
(30 - 45 minutes)

This program explains how Samaritan provides care with dignity for those who served with honor. It details hospice and bereavement services that are covered by VA benefits, Medicare, Medicaid and private insurance, and how these services can benefit veterans and their families.

| Curbing Presenteeism: Supporting Employee Caregivers |
(45-60 minutes)
