Samaritan's hospice center

VOORHEES - Mary Ann Boccolini remembers a time when dying patients were tucked away at the end of hospital hallways without special treatment or care, an unceremonious, unremarkable end to a life.
It's something the president and CEO of Samaritan Healthcare and Hospice kept in mind when developing plans for South Jersey's first freestanding hospice center, to be dedicated Wednesday. Located next to Virtua Voorhees on Route 73, The Samaritan Center at Voorhees will care for up to 18 patients and their families at a time.
"It's really about how do we help people transition with dignity and respect and grace?" Boccolini said.
